nice to see you here. You probably know that bacteria and viruses can cause serious or even life-threatening illnesses. You can prevent them with vaccinations.
Protect yourself from warts and cancer
These include infections with human papillomaviruses (HPV), which can even lead to cancer.
With a vaccination against HPV, you can significantly reduce your risk of
Cervical cancer
Penile cancer or vaginal cancer
Anal cancer
unpleasant and unsightly warts in the genital area
But am I at risk at all?
Yes, sooner or later for sure, because you can become infected with HPV, especially during sex. That's why the HPV vaccination is recommended for all girls and boys between the ages of 9 and 14, so that you are protected prior to the first sexual contact . This is when the vaccination is most effective. But even if you already have sexual experience, an HPV vaccination can still make sense.
And what if I'm older?
You can still be vaccinated against HPV at the age of 15, 16 or 17. Your health insurance will cover the costs. If you are already 18, simply ask your health insurance company.
Who vaccinates me?
Your paediatrician, gynaecologist or family doctor will vaccinate you against HPV and other infectious diseases. You can also find out more at the public health department and of course talk to your parents about it.
Do vaccinations hurt?
No, it's a small prick - nothing more. But if you're worried about it, talk to your doctor about it. He or she can also anaesthetise the vaccination site a little locally beforehand so that you feel almost nothing of the prick.
Just do it - get vaccinated!
