Document to certify eligibility to rent subsidized accommodation (WBS)
Refugees and displaced persons are expected to look for their own rented flat after their stay in decentralized accommodation. Persons looking for accommodation who are in possession of an official document certifying their eligibility to rent subsidized rental units can also rent such flats that are subsidized by the state.
Applications for this certificate of eligibility are to be submitted to the municipal, community or city administrative authorities (housing department or housing benefit offices) in which refugees are originally accommodated. These offices will liaise with the immigration authorities to check whether such a certificate of eligibility may be issued.
In normal cases, foreigners must be in possession of a residence permit for at least one year. In special circumstances, it is possible for this condition to be relaxed.
