Degree / training: You have a college degree or have completed vocational training of at least level DQR-4 – German Qualification Framework). (Find out on the website www.dqr.de under “Qualification search”.)
Experience: You have documented proof of at least two years of experience in an area that could contribute to one or more educational fields. This experience could comprise professional practice in areas such as teaching, medicine, psychology, home economics, family care, nature, the environment or agriculture. Other alternatives include practical professional or non-professional work in music, art, handicrafts or textile design as well as teaching practice in areas such as sports, nutrition, languages, media, mathematics, technology, culture or religion. Regardless of which specific field you have experience in, the important thing is your ability to put your skills and knowledge to use so as to contribute to and enhance the educational work at a children’s daycare centre.

Mathematics, natural sciences and technology
Culture, society and democracy
Ethics, religion and philosophy
Education in art and aesthetics and media
Additional qualification: A certificate confirming completion of a state-certified qualification in the field of early childhood education, care and rearing (480 hrs.).
Period of professional practice: Obtain at least 500 hours of experience (supervised by a professional educator) in a children’s daycare centre, thus integrating theory and practice.
Regarding support and qualifications offered in your area, please contact the competent office for children’s daycare centres at the Youth Welfare Office in your district.
