Main tasks
Economic Affairs
Making Schleswig-Holstein even more appealing to medium-sized companies is the main focus on the field of economic policy. This includes cutting red tape, supporting companies in research, development and digitalization as well as strengthening Schleswig-Holstein as a business location based on the settlement strategy. Various funding instruments and programs are available for this purpose.
Transport
In addition to rehabilitating the transport infrastructure in general, there are several major projects such as the expansion of the motorway A20, the Fehmarnbelt fixed link with its hinterland rail and road connections or the expansion of the A7 including the replacement of the Rader high bridge. The promotion of local public transport and cycling as well as the development of new sustainable mobility concepts are also integral parts of transport policy in Schleswig-Holstein.
Employment
Retaining skilled workers and employees is a central concern of Schleswig-Holstein's labor market policy. As many people as possible should find employment. Those already in work should remain in workforce as long as possible and continue to gain qualifications in order to successfully meet the future challenges of a changed world of work. The state supports people and companies in Schleswig-Holstein with numerous funding programs and initiatives.
Technology
Promoting the transfer of knowledge and technology from universities and non-university research institutions to the industry takes center stage in our technology policy. Advancing digitalization holds particular promise in this context. A prerequisite is the extension of Schleswig-Holstein’s digital infrastructure through fiber optic technology across the country.
Tourism
Schleswig-Holstein offers many attractive destinations for relaxing and close to nature vacations, not only on the North and Baltic Sea, but also in the verdant countryside. In economic terms, tourism is a key sector because it provides jobs for many people and ensures regional value creation. The guiding principle of Schleswig-Holstein's Tourism Strategy 2030 is sustainability that is tackled both in economic, ecological and social terms. Therefore, not only the perspective of the guests is taken into account, but also that of the local inhabitants and the employees.
