Ministry of Justice, Equality and Integration of Land Schleswig-Holstein
The Ministry of Justice, Equality and Integration of Land Schleswig-Holstein is run by the Minister, Emil Schmalfuß, and the Secretary of State, Michael Dölp. Around 400 civil servants, lawyers, officers of justice and employees work in the four departments of the ministry. The Minister is thus the highest employer of a total of 5.300 civil servants, and responsible for resourcing courts, the public prosecutor's offices, prisons and social justice services with personnel and equipment. Moreover, it has the duty of promoting equal opportunities for men and women and works to promote the integration of migrants.
The Ministry follows a juridical and political system which is in line with citizens’ needs and offers citizens online services on businesses and other authorities within the framework of the e-government service on a national and regional basis. The comprehensive investment programme for modernising the prisons is a further focus in Schleswig-Holstein.
The Ministry of Equality is the essence of politics for women who need support, and for all who want women to receive more meaningful opportunities in the community, society and economy. In a society of equal rights, men and women both take responsibility in all aspects of life. The Land Government sees women’s politics as crossing subject boundaries so that structural inequalities are removed, and women are provided with new opportunities. The Ministry supports projects that promote women with new ideas in the areas of education and training, careers or public life. The goal is to promote the security and independence of women’s livelihoods. Protection of family members against violence is another of the important duties of the Minister of Equality. Moreover, all plans of the Land Government that may affect the reality of women’s lives will be checked by the Ministry for consistency.
